One of Kansas City’s most sought after drummers, Mike Warren has accompanied a veritable who’s who’s in jazz, from Jay McShann, Dr Billy Taylor, Milt Jackson and Clark Terry to Ronnie Laws, Bobby Watson, Dr Lonnie Smith and Kevin Mahogany.

Praise from percussion icons Max Roach and Louie Bellson was resoundingly seconded by trumpet great Wynton Marsalis, who paid Warren the ultimately compliment for the guy responsible for keeping the beat: “Yeah man, you in there.”

Warren has arranged and written for the Jazz Disciples and vocalist Lisa Henry. He has been featured on the cover of JAM Magazine twice and is a long time alum of the late night jam sessions at the Mutual Musicians Foundation An educator as well, Mike is an adjunct drum professor at the University of Missouri Kansas City and has been instrumental in summer workshop programs throughout Kansas City.  As Mike’s 12th Street Jump rhythm section cohort Tyrone Clark maintains, “he just makes the music sound good.”
